African Drumming with Ssasi

Students will learn to make popular West African beats with djembe drum. A school set of djembes is required. If desired, an additional class could be added for the students to make their own djembe drums from recycled materials. Contact Ssasi to discuss.

Ssasi Mahamadou Sangaré

Sassi is from Mali, West Africa. He is  a singer/composer,  and plays the bamboo flute, djembe drum and some guitar. Sassi know several traditional dances from Mali, Africa. He also creates fabric art known as bogolan, or mud cloth. This works well for either wall hangings or t-shirts.
