Cherie is an educator, theatre artist, and creative producer of interactive and participatory theatre. She has created, produced, and performed in several pieces in the Calgary Fringe Theatre Festival (Knocked, 2016; Booked, 2017), as part of Jane’s Walk Calgary (2018, 2019), as well as many collaborative projects performed for and with community audiences.
Cherie was born and raised in Winnipeg and lived throughout western Canada before finding her true home in the Yukon. She holds a Masters degree in Adult Education (Community Development) from St. FX and is a graduate of the Theatre for Living program with David Diamond of Vancouver. Cherie has worked with all ages of youth through to older adults in theatre and community development workshops. She has a particular passion for participatory learning through hands-on activities and “stepping into another’s shoes,” seeking to drive conversation about sometimes uncomfortable and often unfamiliar topics.
