Brian started his music journey as a flautist in 6th grade... which lasted all of one minute when he was told he didn't have the right embouchure. Totally crushed, he transitioned to percussion. This choice led to a set of very formative experiences in a high school marching band (drumline), and a fondness for marimba solos.
A few decades later, Brian is very happy to make music without having to worry about running out of air, as well as being able to do a thing that no other band instrument can do well--play two (or more!) notes at once. When not hitting things (musically! And hopefully at the right times), Brian works as a mathematical modeler for the Yukon department of health.
Brian is part of the All-City Band and is very comfortable working with students and teachers in sectional groups.
