Ava P. Christl

Predominantly a painter, Ava P Christl has an art practice spanning over 30 years. Ava grew up in northern BC and spent close to 30 years in Yukon, NWT and Nunavut. Her work is inspired and informed by a love of the northern land. She welcomes opportunities to travel to, and work in, rural communities.

Ava’s paintings address art and ecology, nature and place, and our human relationship to the living land. Ava also draws and makes sculpture using natural found materials. She enjoys making community-based land art projects with groups of all ages, using found materials to build structures that go back to the land over time.

Ava holds a BFA from NSCAD University and a Certificate in Adult Education from University of Victoria. Her paintings have been exhibited widely across northern and western Canada and are held in private and public collections throughout North America, including the Yukon Government Permanent Collection, the Yukon Hospital Corporation and the Art Bank of Canada.
