Amy Tessaro

Amy Tessaro is from the Tahltan First Nation who was raised on Haida Gwaii and Whitehorse, Yukon. She enjoys working with many different art mediums however stained glass has remained her passion. She found her passion twenty years ago. She learned all her stained glass techniques from her late father; Bruce Tessaro, who had been a stained glass artist for over thirty years. She taught herself how to etch unique form line designs on glass. Etching on glass allows her to incorporate more First Nations designs that are not possible to cut, with her glass cutter. Amy is extremely thankful for artists like: Calvin Morberg and Jared Kane for teaching and sharing their form line designs with her. Amy now has been teaching for over ten years. She offers beginner, intermediate, and advance stained glass classes. She loves teaching these classes and learning new ideas from her students. Her most favourite student that she has taught would be her son, Antonio Tessaro. Antonio received his first set of stained glass tools from Amy’s late father. Tony’s first year participating at the Adaka Festival; he was thirteen and taught his first class, a mosaic stained glass class. The following year in 2015 he taught his first beginner stained glass class. There is nothing more rewarding than to share our talents with our future generations.
