I call it, “Out of the tube painting”. The class will create a landscape painting on a primed panel. I bring examples of completed sample works in the same format so the ideas can start flowing. In an afternoon a student can produce a reasonable result that can be taken home. This is a primer on the use of the tool, brush handling and stroke, mixing paint and colour. This type of painting is very satisfying for students who are new to this activity. For multi-day training works can be refined or new images started. For ease and clean up the class will work with acrylic paint.

Originally from the Okanagan Valley, I arrived here in 1976 pursuing my lifelong passion for the North. My home and studio are in Faro, Yukon. I have experience painting with watercolor and acrylic but my recent focus has been landscape painting in oil. Since I began my painting journey in 1999 I have constantly refined, adjusted and redirected my path to achieve what is in my mind’s eye – the result I am after. It seems there is always more to learn… it is not the result… it is the journey.
